I’m nowhere near finished with telling you all about our Mexico adventures, but I’m suffering a little with post-holiday blues. At the moment, my blues are the colour of these gorgeous Secret Linen Store Teasels Blue Bedding Set.
Does anyone else change their sheets the night before going away to make sure you get that clean sheet feeling on your first night at home? For me it’s a ritual, knowing that after all the traveling, the long flight and the inevitable sadness, that at the end of it all, there’s at least nice clean sheets waiting for us.
There’s something so comforting about sinking into silky soft sheets after being on a long plane journey and (99% of the time) having had an average sleep. Especially when they’re soft as anything and brand new!
Secret Linen Store was founded by two lovely sisters who create the most beautiful linens; the colours, the fabrics which have been sourced from Portugal and the love that goes into each and every pillowcase, duvet cover, cushion and throw. I normally choose very simple, plain linens for our flat but I couldn’t resist the beautiful teasle design as well as the perfect light blue colour. And I couldn’t be happier with my choice! With simple white walls throughout our flat, it adds a welcome little bit of colour.
We’re still in the process of making our new-ish flat our own, and things like new linen and memories from our travels are just how I want to fill it. I’ve made a little resolution with myself to make sure that we bring back at least one or two little treasures from each of our trips. We brought a couple of bits back from Mexico, but I’d really love to get some vintage posters which show places we’ve been to together. If anyone has any tips for where I can find them, I’d love to hear from you!
I don’t think it’s a surprise that I have an ever growing collection of travel books, including The New York Times 36 Hours collection, Lonely Planet books on every destination I’ve been to and the Small Luxury Hotels of the World book for a little hotel inspiration! And so lining one window sill, across from the bed is our ever growing travel guide section! I like to keep the Lonely Planet books for places we’re about to visit in the living room so I can pour over them in the evenings to help plan our trip, but I keep all of our “visited” places in the spare room.
We were given some amazing mementos from our Mexican adventure, including personalised napkins with our initials and my blog logo…
As well as this gorgeous bottle of tequila and matching glasses! And they just so happen to all match our lovely new Secret Linen Store bed linen! I wish I could say I had planned it all…
As much as I love going away and seeing new places, experiencing new cultures and seeing stunning hotels, there’s nothing quite like your own bed when you get home.
So thank you, to the Secret Linen Store for giving me a reason to look forward to being in my own bed, and not somewhere a little more exotic in a different part of the world!
My travel wallet is stuffed full of ticket stubs from everywhere we’ve been over the last 5 years and I’m thinking of finally putting them into one collage to hang in our flat.
(I may or may not have treated myself to this Aspinal of London peppermint travel wallet in the sale… What can I say, I’m addicted to blue!)
How do you bring your travels into your home?
But before the collage and the print shopping, if you don’t mind… I think I’m going to get back into these sheets for a little longer!
My Secret Linen Store bedding was gifted, all holiday blues and other products are my own.
