Each pontoon is very separate, so that you really do feel as though you have your own space to relax, unwind or party – whichever is your preference! In the midday heat we really enjoyed pulling the curtains down to get a little respite from the heat, and then using the loungers when we wanted to bake in the sun.
The whole club has the most beautiful view of the sea and the boats, and is also the perfect place to take a dip when you want to cool off.
Bonj really is the picture of luxury, especially if you define luxury as privacy and excellent service.
Using my new found favourite hat to stop my very Scottish skin from burning!
I couldn’t take the smile off my face all day!
Taking in the views around us, and marveling at the paradise we were in. After a few days of lying on rocky beaches (there are very few sand beaches in Croatia), having the choice of four sun loungers and a bed was perfection itself.
We watched all the boats, little…
…and large, as they sailed past.
One of the best things about Bonj is that they really take care of every little detail, for example leaving pre-inflated lilos at the side of each pontoon for those who don’t want to swim (aka me).
Though I wasn’t entirely (read: at all) graceful on my lilo and kept falling off! So you’ll have to make do with a photo of graceful Andy instead!
In what seems to be a tradition in Hvar, pitchers of cocktails are served in carafes with huuuuge straws! Perhaps the only disappointment of the day was that we could only have one pitcher of mojito as they had run out of mint… But if that’s the biggest criticism I have, you can tell just how magical it is at Bonj.
Big kid = big cocktail. Just kidding, I did share!
…after a while!
It really amused me to notice (though it rather worried Andy that I remembered) that the flowers on our table were the same as those at Ron Gastrobar in Amsterdam!
We ordered a beautiful bottle of Rosé wine to accompany our meal – I don’t know why but Rosé always tastes better to me when it’s warm!
I really wanted to order the Avocado Prawn Tostadas, but much to my disappointment they had run out. Instead I opted for an old favourite: the club sandwich, which was fantastic, though the chips, which were excellently crispy, that were served with them were a little warm rather than hot.
I adored the accompanying sauce, it was rich and gave a wonderful flavour to the sandwich and the chips.
Andy ordered the dentex fillet with a side of chips, which seemed to go down extremely well!
After our late lunch, we ambled back to the pontoon to enjoy the last of the sunshine and the heat.
I loved the way the sun hit the water and shined, almost like a diamond. Hvar, just like Zadar, has wonderful sunsets, so we cosied up, had a few more glasses of wine and settled in to watch the sunset.
The evening light just made everything look even more beautiful. Can you see just how close we were to our hotel?
I sat at the end of the pontoon, taking in the view and watching the world go by; entirely content and in a state of pure bliss.
Does anyone else’s hair love sea water? I wish I could get my hair to be that curly and retain that shape at home, so if anyone has any tips I’d love to hear them in the comments!
We waved goodbye to our beautiful pontoon…
…and drank in all the beautiful views before we left.
It really was a day in paradise.
In fact, writing this has made me wish I was back there again! Bonj is a real must for Hvar if you’re looking for luxury; the service was unparalleled, it was peaceful and it was one of the best holiday days I’ve ever had.
As with all Suncani Hotels and facilities on Hvar there is one real benefit: all you have to do is present your hotel card at any of the restaurants, bars, hotels or Bonj and it’s all added to your bill, no matter what hotel you’re staying at. With 4 luxury hotels and countless bars and restaurants to choose from, it’s a real bonus being able to put everything on your hotel key and pay it off at the end.
You can pay for the use of either just sunloungers (as above), a cabin, a baldachin or a private pontoon. Full details and prices are here.
