London Restaurant Festival: The Lifestyle Diaries Guide

October marks the London Restaurant Festival: when London’s foodie scene comes even more alive than it already is! But with so much to do and so many incredible restaurants taking part where to start?! As the saying goes, this is a marathon and not a sprint – so make sure you pace your inner foodie to last until the 31st October!

The festival is happening all over London and split into different price brackets and events so no matter where you are or what your plans are this month, there’s more than enough for everyone to get involved.

Festival Menus

There are an incredible 250 restaurants, covering 27 different cuisines, taking part in LRF this year, including some of London’s best restaurants, and at very affordable prices. Whether you’re looking for a Michelin star meal, a liquid brunch or even afternoon tea there’s something for you here.
You can book all of the special Festival Menus through Bookatable, here.

I’m really looking forward to trying Nobu with Angie and the Ten Room at Hotel Café Royal with Lauren – and those are just the restaurants that I’ve booked! Andy and I are still trying to choose a restaurant to go to, and with such an impressive list of restaurants taking part, it’s a very hard decision! There are so many restaurants taking part that I want to visit, but here are just a selection of my top restaurants and deals.

Hakkasan: 3 courses and a cocktail for £35. Book here.
Sake no Hana: 5 courses and a half bottle of wine for £35. Book here.
Yauatcha City: 9 course tasting menu and a cocktail for £25. Book here.

Restaurant Hopping Tours

LRF’s trademark Restaurant Hopping Tours offer diners a chance to sample 6 different restaurants in one tour and are something that I’m really looking forward to this year. There are 6 different tours this year, all over London and comprising a variety of different cuisines. Full details about all the tours and tickets are available on the LRF website, here.

If you’re a Tapas fan, you won’t want to miss the chance to visit some of London’s best Tapas offerings, including Camino, Coptia, Iberica (Farringdon), Tapas Revolution.
Carnaby Street is well known in the London foodie scene as being a complete gem for wonderful restaurants which means you know this tour is going to be good, with restaurants including Rosa’s, Señor Ceviche, and Shotgun.
Chinatown is a bit of an undiscovered patch of London for me, and if it is for you too, you might want to get a flavour for the area through the Chinatown tour. Or even if it’s an old haunt, who can say no to good Chinese food? Ticket holders will visit Rasa Sayang, Plum Valley, Orient London among others.
Prefer Japanese food to Chinese cuisine? You can tell from my suggestions above that I love Japanese food, and this year the Japanese tour is back with a bang, allowing foodie lovers to visit Bo Drake, Tonkotzu East, Shoryu and others on their tour.
Finally, there are two new tours this year: Victoria, one of London’s most exciting restaurant areas and home to the wonderful SilverSpoon herself, and Seven Dials. an area which though concentrated, has some of the best restaurants in the city.

Eat Film

If you’re not yet exhausted and are still hungry this month and are looking for a little culture with your meal, Eat Film might just be for you. Dine at the famous BAFTA 195 Piccadilly headquarters on a 3 course meal with wine prepared by BAFTA’s head chef, Anton Manganaro.

Champagne Laurent-Perrier Gourmet Odyssey

Now, these are experiences that I think will be some of the highlights of this month! Enjoy a course in London’s top restaurants all over North, East and West London, with each course in the Gourmet Odyssey tour paired with a Laurent-Perrier Champagne. Now that sounds like a luxury heaven to me!
Discover West is currently sold out, but Discover North and East both have tickets still available, which you can buy here. I really like the look of Discover East with restaurants including Bistrotheque, Hoi Polloi and Blixen.

Inspired by London

If you’re lucky enough to be an American Express cardholder, you have access to the brand new and very exciting Inspired by London series. Not only are these foodie havens, with menus prepared by some of the best chef in London, including Mark Hix, Marcus Wareing and Nathan Outlaw, but they’re uniquely inspired by the produce, sights and landmarks of the capital.

Start with Champagne, enjoy a 4 course meal, and then a meet and great with the chefs: if you’re a foodie and an American Express cardholder, these are the best tickets in town this month! Find out more and book here.

Side Orders

I know, you didn’t think there could possibly be any more, but trust me there is.
If you don’t want to go for a full Festival Menu, you can still experience “side” events at restaurants all over London. Bao are creating a special bun for those with a sweet tooth (guilty), Laurent-Perrier are partnering with a select few restaurants for very special Laurent-Perrier Cuvée Rosé Menus  and lots more. For full details, check the website here.
So you see, there really is something for everyone to get stuck into this month! I can’t wait to sample some of London’s best foodie delights as I’ll be visiting as many as I can – it’s too good an opportunity to pass up!
What are you most looking forward to in LRF? Do you have anything booked yet?
