London Living: Summer in London

We all found out last month just why we all love London – and well, I think we all fell back in love with our glorious city again! This month we’re celebrating all that London has to offer in the summer and I think it’s going to be a very long list. Since I’ve had a bit of a foodie month (okay, more of a foodie month than usual!) I’m sharing the foodie delights I’m looking forward to this summer – as well as one or two exhibitions that have popped up.

POP-Down by Cuisson

We’ve all heard of pop up restaurants which spring up for a while, get us all addicted to their food and then disappear again, but Cuisson are launching a POP-Down; an unusual supper club that aims to bring high end dining at affordable prices.

The menu has four incredible courses and is served with a signature cocktail. What cuisine I hear you ask? It’s French (hello – I’ll be there with bells on!) and makes use of modernist techniques, and the menus changes every month.

Not sold yet? How about their POP-Down Dessert Bar which will be equally as adventurous as POP-Down, and will have expertly matched wines to match. I’ll see you there!

Supper Tub

This one does exactly what it says on the tin: you’re in a hot tub relaxing and also being served some incredible food! It’s set to be a fun night full of Peruvian inspired food, with frozen cocktails and a great, and unusual night out! You start out with a Pisco sour, followed by a tub side 3 course meal, served on skewers. Yum.

And if you’re not ready to leave after your meal, post-dinner underwater games are very much encouraged! You can either book tickets in pairs or book a hot tub for 8 of you.
Supper Tub opens on the 26th June in Hackney Wick and has three sessions a day: afternoon and early and late evening.

Wonderland Bar

Summer always screams cocktails to me – anyone else? I’m also in love with Alice in Wonderland, so I can’t wait to jump down the rabbit hole, have some cocktails and listen to live music. The bar actually has a hedge maze, flamingo croquet, aerial acrobatics and immersive theatrical performances.

It’s Bourne & Hollingworth who created the cocktails, so you know they’re going to be good – and in keeping with the theme they reflect Alice’s adventures. I can’t wait to head down!

Decision by Carsten Holler

I love a good exhibition; and this one looks like so much fun! It’s aim is to explore perception and decision making, but it does so by immersing visitors in a series of environmental experiments. Even as you step into the exhibition you’ve got to make a choice on which entrance to take – and it impacts which route you take.

Not sold? The exhibition ends when you slide down the side of the Southbank Centre and there are two flying machines. How fun!
Decision is running until 6th September.

Radames “Juni” Figueroa Pops Up in Fitzrovia – In a Treehouse!

Edel Assanti is presenting the first UK solo exhibition of Radames “Juni”Figueroa with a site-specifically designed sky deck, providing the setting for a programme of cocktails, performances, concerts and events that will see diverse audiences freely engaging with one another.

It’s a treehouse people, could this be more exciting?! Art, cocktails and a really great environment, you know where I’ll be!

Audrey Hepburn Exhibition

I’m not sure who isn’t a fan of Audrey Hepburn – she’s an incredible icon. and when I heard there was an Audrey Hepburn exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery this summer, I might have been the first to book my tickets!
The exhibition runs from the 2nd July – 18th October and is a photographic story of her life, from her years as a chorus girl in London to her philanthropic work in later life. Portraits of an Icon is something I’m really excited about! Book your tickets here.

Bourne and Hollingworth’s 90’s Playback

The 90’s has to be the best decade: the clothes, the style, the music – what isn’t to love? Getting dressed up and boogying away the night to some of the best (and the worst!) of the decade sounds like a great night to me! I need a slip dress and a lot of lip liner..! Get your tickets here.
