Must Visit Winter Pop Ups in London

There’s something magical about Christmas in London; the twinkling lights, the real build up and shops such as Harrods and Selfridges decking their halls with the most gorgeous decorations. But it’s not just the shops that go all Christmassy at this time of year – the restaurants have their fair share with festive menus and, my favourites, the winter pop ups.

So here’s my round up of the Christmas pop ups that I’ll be visiting this year!

Cinema in the Snow

Pop Up Screens are transforming the 20th Century Theatre in Notting Hill into a Christmas haven from the 11th December – 23rd December and showcasing all of your Christmas classics with a side of hot chocolate, mulled wine and, of course, pop corn.

Whether you’re more of an Elf fan (Andrea, I’m looking at you!) or a Home Alone addict (that would be me!), there’s something for you!
Area: Notting Hill. More info here

York & Albany’s Winter Chalet

I mentioned in my October round up that York & Albany have opened their Winter Chalet, and though I haven’t had the time to visit yet, I’m really looking forward to this super cosy spot as a perfect date night venue. I’m so excited to get snuggled up under the blankets and enjoy a wintery cocktail and some nibbles and pretend that I’m hiding away in the mountains and not in London!

Area: Near Regents Park, Camden Town. More information here

The Lodge

Okay, so I really can’t go skiing this year, but one of the best bits about skiing is the après ski and the foodie fun, aka fondue. Jimmy’s Pop Up is back again this year in Clapham after a spectacular season in Balham this time last year, with another Alpine themed pop up. Think fondue from Neal’s Yard Dairy, hot cocktails and a menu that changes daily.

Yup, I think we all need to visit this one. They do promise there is always fondue…
Area: Clapham. More information here

St Moritz Ski Bar at The Goring

This is one that Catherine recently put me onto; think mountain cocktails and cosy vibes, all in the grand and beautiful venue that is The Goring Hotel. Catherine’s already been quick enough to visit this beautiful pop up, so make sure you check out her review here and pay the ski bar a visit!
Venue: Belgravia. More information here

Mr Fogg’s Does Christmas

You all know how much I love Mr Fogg’s (in fact, I’m long overdue a visit!) so when I found out that Mr Fogg, Esq. is launching not one but two Christmas pop ups, well you can imagine how excited I was.
Mr Fogg's
Firstly, Mr Fogg is hosting a delightful bar at Winter Wonderland, a venue that quite literally screams Christmas at you. Winter Wonderland itself is a must visit for me at Christmas time: it might be very bright and there’s lots going on, but get yourself some mulled wine, pay a visit to Mr Fogg himself and generally get a little bit merry. It’s also a great opportunity to experience this amazing venue if you haven’t been before.

Mr Fogg's
It’s not just Winter Wonderland, oh no! Back at his residence, Mr Fogg is relaunching his Hendrick’s Botanical Garden with a winter theme: the perfect place to relax underneath the stars in beautiful Mayfair.
Think mistletoe, holly and ivy, candles, decorations and more, that all transport you back into Mr Fogg’s own Victorian Christmas paradise. It’s not just the venue that’s had a makeover, the cocktail list is also very festive; personally I’m already excited to try the Toodle-Pip Hot Chocolate, a personal favourite of Phileas Fogg, made with Hendrick’ gin, Mozart Dark Chocolate liqueur, Briotett Crème de Menthe Verde liqueur, home-made sugar syrup, double cream, espresso lungo and chocolate powder.
If that still hasn’t sold you, Mr Fogg is also delighting us with his Festive Tipsy Tea, a delight that I really can’t wait to sample.

Area: Mayfair. More details here

Rekorderlig Winter Cider

If cider is more you’re thing and you’re looking for a more casual winter themed pop up, Rekorderlig are opening their winter Cider Lodge opens on the 20th November for a Scandinavian wonderland full of cider, culture, food and drink.
Rekorderlig Southbank
Sample Rekorderlig both hot and cold or even enjoy their special range of festive cocktails. Make sure you catch this one by the 17th January when it closes!
Area: Southbank. More information here

Snow Queen Afternoon Tea at the Conrad St James

Designed around the theme of the Snow Queen, the Conrad Hotel has given afternoon tea a makeover and covered it in delicate winter frosts. With cakes including “The Magic Mirror”, a salted butter shortbread, yogurt cream, frosted blueberries and sugar shards, and the “Snowstorm”, a coconut cream, mint macaron and candy floss, you’re sure to leave this tea feeling as though the Snow Queen herself was at your table!

And with free flowing champagne for the duration of your tea, all included in the £55 price, this is an excellent afternoon tea to try!

The Nutcracker Festive Afternoon Tea at The Langham Hotel

There’s something so beautifully elegant about The Langham Hotel, and it’s a venue that I really can’t wait to see around the festive period. Step into the Palm Court, a restaurant I visited earlier in the year, to be greeted by two ‘soldiers’ before enjoying the dream like state that The Nutcracker creates.
Be ready for the Nutcracker Victoria Sponge, with cranberry and white balsamic pate de fruit and the cinnamon Christmas tree shortbread. There are five sitting for this indulgent afternoon tea, so there’s plenty of opportunities to get together with friends or family for a fantastic start to your festive season.
London you’re a real beauty at Christmas and I can’t wait to experience all of these!
