V&A Wanderings

Isn’t London beautiful in the sun? I’ve told you all about what I’m looking forward to in London this summer, but one thing I didn’t include is just wandering round London itself!
Last week, some plans fell through as I was on the train up to London and since it was a glorious day, I wasn’t in the mood to spoil the day! So what does a girl do? She calls her best friend, who was also cancelled on that day bizarrely, and met him in South Kensington and took a trip to the V&A.

Embarrassingly, I have to admit that this was my first visit to the V&A. I know, it’s awful. But, if it makes up for it, I’m totally in love and will be going back at every opportunity.
They also have an incredible buffet style restaurant – and you know what I’m like with food…! I was trying to be healthy and so opted for the chorizo and manchego quiche which was as delicious as it sounds. David, being male and so requiring more food, opted for a baguette which also looked lovely.

Enough of the food, ’cause what you need to see here is this gorgeous courtyard. It’s amazing that such a quiet, open space exists in one of the busiest parts of London – I love it! On a hot day I have to say I was very thankful for the seats in the middle of the water – it was the perfect excuse to take my shoes off and cool down!

Pretty funky, eh?

All around there were people having lunch, playing in the water or even dozing! It was a bizarre and yet wonderful experience.

David and I had our obligatory catch up – we have one of those relationships where even though we’re best friends we somehow manage to avoid each other for months on end!

Finally, after I realised I was probably going to burn (stupid Scottish skin) David took me inside and showed me around a little. He’s fortunate enough to go to university in the area (well he was – congratulations on graduating, David!) so has been able to pop in to the V&A a lot.

A wonderful way to while away a few hours.
Are there any other hidden gems like this courtyard in London that I should know about?!
