I’ve been promising a friend of mine a game of squash and a dinner at Back to the 60’s American Diner for a long time now, and yesterday was the time to collect. Unfortunately for you, I have no photos of me playing squash (I’m sorry, I know), but what I do have are lots of amazing photos of the tastiest, most scrumptious burger, milkshake and cocktail that I’ve had in a while!

This diner has a real 60’s vibe: frankly, I felt like my hair was too small to be allowed into the restaurant! And for a girl who loves a burger this menu was a real feast. Decisions decisions….

Even the little details, like the ketchup bottles, screamed 60’s! Black and white tiled floors, red booths, 60’s music – I think I stepped into a time machine last night.

I couldn’t resist a snap of this wall decor as they’re hilarious. I’m in love with the one that says “I’m only as strong as the alcohol I drink and the hairspray I use”. Might have to try and find a copy for myself.

I almost felt like I was part of the Grease gang and that Sandy was about to appear at any moment. No luck last night, but I’ll be sure to let you know if she does appear when I go back!

I’m very much a mojito girl: that sugary, mintiness is delish, and this beauty was no exception. I have to admit I wasn’t expecting it to be as great as it was, but, boy, was this a yummy mojito. But since it was a school night I only had the one.

And then the real event arrived. And boy, was it good. We both went for the BBQ and Bacon burgers, which came with seriously good chips and onion rings. It was incredible: juicy, cheesy, bacon-y – I mean what more could I have asked for?! It wasn’t at all greasy which made it perfect – and just what I needed after a game of squash!

The chips were oh so fresh – you could tell they had been made freshly for us and hadn’t just been sitting around. I wish you could reach into your laptop and tasty these yummy little bites of deliciousness, but for now you’re just going to have to trust me on this one!

Not feeling that we had tried enough of the menu after our amazing burgers we needed to complete our 60’s theme with milkshakes! They were incredible – tasty, light, sweet and just ideal! I went for a Bailey’s milkshake as I was feeling a little decadent and he went for vanilla (but look at that cream! It was wonderful and light and mmmmmm).

After a lovely dinner, with a great catch up too, we wandered on home for the night. I tried to capture how pretty Rennes is in the mist and the dark, but I couldn’t quite manage it! But I still thought this little photo was worth sharing with you. It almost looks light it was snowing, but it was just the mist.

For those of you in or around Rennes, this is a must! Who doesn’t want to do a little time travelling?! Next time, I’ll just need to make sure I’m dressed a little more 60’s appropriate!
