I have to admit, I one of these people who enjoys a good nosy round other peoples make up bags – so it’s only fair that I let you in on mine!

I’m pretty picky with my skincare essentials, but I think I’ve found some good ones recently and I couldn’t resist the temptation to share them with you.

So starting with my primping necessities!

Vaseline Spray and Go Moistureiser
These products really are worth every penny. Every girl know she should moisturise, and I know I should more than I do – hence the easy peesy lazy girls moistureiser, the spray and go! Does just what it says on the tin and let’s you put your clothes straight on without the awkward hanging around in between. My handcream goes eveywhere with me; I’ve got a few L’occitane hand creams, but this one is one of my favourites, along with their Amande cream.
St Tropez Fake Tan Oil; easy to apply, not streaky, smells incredible and is a great colour. Not sure what much more I could be looking for in a fake tan. Highly recommend for any pale girls out there!
Cowshed has been a recent development in my life, and I’m never looking back. Their Grumpy Cow collection smells amazing, and although I was skeptical at first, it does actually cheer me up when I’m feeling a bit down.
For when I’m not feeling lazy (oops) my go to moistueriser is the L’Occitane milk concentarte firming lotion, It’s a dream. It smells incredible and leaves your skin a little firmer (I’m never sure how much but I swear it works at least a little) and beautifully soft.
Hair Care (the limited version!)
So I could spend a whole blog post on this, but I’m not going to. Here are my top 3!

Bumble and Bumble Curl Conscious Holding Foam
L’Oreal sun in spray

If you’re a fellow curly haired girl you’ll know the struggle of keeping your hair curly some days. You know the ones when it’s a bit meh and floppy? Well this is your cure all product for those days! Just use a 10p sized amount and scrunch it through your hair when damp, and then blow dry it to set. Hello bouncy curls!
It’s a 10 really is a miracle, seriously. No matter how distressed my hair is, I know I can trust this product to bring me back to life.
Controversial one here, cause I don’t ever want to die my hair! But when Helena let me borrow her sun in spray I couldn’t resist a little try. It’s great for lightening your hair a little, but be careful, cause she’s taking her Spanish locks from brown to blonde and it’s working – so go gently with this one. Also be sure to use a good hair oil or mask after using it so your hair doesn’t dry out.

Beautiful Brunette Shampoo and Conditioner

Now this really is a wonderful set of products! I’ve been a John Freida lover for years, but when the opportunity arose to try a similar, but much cheaper, product, I was very willing to give it a go. Seriously, it’s incredible! My hair is bouncier, the colour looks incredible, my hair has more body and it’s so soft. The best bit? It’s available in Poundland! Yup – John Freida results without the price tag. And for all your blonde ladies out there, they do a blonde version as well. Your hair can thank me for it later!
Skincare

I first read about Oxelio Topique in Vogue – and couldn’t resist trying it, because French pharmacy products really are amazing. Use it every night and you’ll wake up with your skin feeling soft, rejuvenated and generally giving you a good start to your day!

This Cattier mask is my go to mask when my skin needs a bit of a lift! It’s for sensitive skin, and is a real pick me up when stress or a lot of eating out is making my skin angry. It’s fabulous for getting rid of spots as well!

Post mask, I always reach for my Clarins Face Treatment Oil to give my skin a big drink! Use it sparingly, you literally need one or two drops on a cotton pad and dab it all over your face and neck. It’s like an at home facial, which we all know we need sometimes.

Clinque’s pore refining serum does exactly what it says on the tin: my pores are smaller, my skin looks better and I love it as much as the first time I used it. I had bad skin as a teen, so I have a lot of pores to sort out, and this idoes the job for me.

It was Birchbox that introduced me to Caudalie Vionperfect Serum and I’ve started using it every day. I didn’t realize the benefits of a serum until I started using one – it’s like a really good, hydrating base coat for your face, but it doesn’t make your skin oily. A must if your skin is unhappy or prone to being stressed.

The REN 1 minute facial is just oh wow. When you don’t have time to sit with a face mask on, or you don’t have the money for a facial, this is the product you should be reaching for. Just pop it on for a minute, and then rinse it straight off (I tend to do it in the shower) and your skin will glow. Literally glow! Follow it with serum and moistureiser to give your skin the nutrients that it needs, or Oxelio Topique if it’s night time.

Finally, my Bobbi Brown moistureiser is a product I don’t think I’ll ever give up. I’ve honestly used it for years, it always makes my skin soft, and provides a perfect base for my make up. I’ve tried lots of moistureisers in my time, and I always find myself going back to this one – says something doesn’t it?

Finally, and very quickly – my favourite fragrances!

I firmly believe in splashing out in a good fragrance (or three – oops). I use my lovely Jo Malone Peony and Blush Suede for the perfect spring/summer day to day fragrance, I really adore it and I always get lots of lovely compliments when I wear it.
I reach for my Chanel Chance, which always reminds me of my mum, for those occasions that are a little more special. It’s a little darker than the Jo Mo, but it’s still really light and fresh – if you’re going to splash our on a perfume, this is the one!
Finally, but by no means least is Coco Mademoiselle. This is my go to it’s a special occasion perfume! It’s beautiful, fairly dark but still quite floral and fruity. It’s just beautiful.
So I hope you’ve enjoyed having a little snoop round my skincare essentials – let me know if you’ve enjoyed it and I’ll give you a snoop through my make up bag as well!
Some of the products in this post were given to me to review, but as always all my opinions and words are my own

  • Have to agree with you on so many of these! That L'Occitane moisturiser is one of my ultimate body creams … but I sadly have to disagree on the Bobbi Brown moisturiser. For some reason, we really did NOT get along and I couldn't wait until I was finished with that jar! My spring scents are also currently Jo Malone (English Pear & Freesia) and Chanel Chance Eau Fraiche … though I'm in search for something a little more exciting. I bought my mom a fragrance from Jo Loves recently, and am thinking of getting one for myself!

  • Ahhh it's so good isn't it? My mum loved it so much that she stole my jar and I had to buy a new one – cheeky lady! I guess skincare is very much suited to different people – I've had Chanel products before that were meant to be incredible that my skin just did not like! Can I ask what you use as a moistureiser? Always looking to try new ones!

OHHHH I LOVE English Pear and Freesia, isn't it so beautiful? I've not used Jo Loves before but I'll definitely look it up – thanks for the tip! xx

  • Haha! The same thing happened with my mom and Trilogy's rosehip oil. Our favorite product!

I *love* talking beauty products! I vary which moisturisers I use according to what my skin's like and what the weather's like too! In the winter months, I like to use something a little heavier and creamier, like Liz Earle's superskin moisturizer. It provides a protective barrier that stops my skin from becoming too dry and dehydrated (although I always have dehydrated skin since I don't drink enough water!). I'm also a huge fan of Dermalogica's Skin Smoothing Cream, which I use nearly year-round, unless it's really hot/humid outside, when I use Shiseido's Ibuki moisturiser. I also like Caudalie's VinoPerfect Night Cream, but haven't used that in a while.

When you're back in London, you'll have to stop by Jo Loves! You probably know this already, but Jo Malone sold her company to Estee Lauder years ago, so Jo Loves is her new(ish) venture, which is completely (I believe) her own. xx
