Wimbledon Soiree at Mr Fogg’s

July 3, 2015

Mr Fogg’s has been high on my “must visit in London” list for quite a while, but every time I wanted to go there was some reason I couldn’t! Either I was ill or in France or never quite found the time, so when I was invited to their Wimbledon Soiree on Tuesday I jumped at the chance!
To be honest, I nearly missed it again as Abellio Greater Anglia don’t run a great service on my line into London which meant that I was running hugely late. Rant over, back to the fun and games!
I mean, what girl in her right mind is going to turn down some delicious cocktails and a little tennis?
Not me!

As you may have guessed Mr Fogg’s is the London home of Phileas Fogg from Around the World in 80 Days and is decorated just as exquisitely as you might expect. Remind me to read that book again, it seems only fitting.

All the cocktails on the evening were named specially for Wimbles and were based on Bloom Gin or Lanson champagne, and they were wonderful. Some were slightly sweet, and others, such as the one below, tasted about as alcoholic as fruit juice – wonderful.

Kirsty, Colleen (who I finally had the pleasure of meeting!) and I couldn’t resist tucking into these beauties whilst having a catch up and getting to know each other a little more.

Before we knew it our glasses were empty – whoops!

Now I’ve mentioned the decor, but this hot air balloon is the show stopper! I mean just look at it: beautiful, covered in Union Jack bunting and with the P F initials emblazoned on it, what more would Mr Fogg ask for?
Not much I don’t think!

The fabulous thing about cocktails is that generally they’re oh so pretty (aka very Instagram-able) and so, are a blogger’s dream, especially when on the very attractive map tables at Mr Fogg’s.

Of course as it was a Wimbledon soiree I just had to wear white!

Talk about eclectic decor eh? Just look at those lampshades!

Almost as soon as our drinks were empty a cricket jumper clad waiter swanned over and asked us if we would like another. I mean, what kind of question was that? Kirsty was just out of work and I had had the train journey from hell so, it was a yes please from both of us as we ordered a Lanson champagne based cocktail.

These were a little sweeter, which my sweet tooth adored, but Kirsty wasn’t such a fan. I love bars and restaurants that serve their drinks in proper glasses (oh dear I sound like my mum!), but do you know what I mean? When you can drink out of a glass that has some weight in it and doesn’t feel as though it’s going to fall over.
Yes please!

As it was just after 7 on a beautiful summer’s evening it was quite busy when we were there, so the whole place had a wonderful atmosphere.

We had just enough time to nip outside into the baking evening heat and see the tennis court that had been set up in the Hendrick’s Botanical Garden that evening. Mr Fogg and his team really had gone all out!

We took a couple of quick snaps before diving back into the air conditioned haven!

I know I’ll be back to Mr Fogg’s – it such a great place! I have to admit, I’ve got my eye on their Tipsy Tea – how fun does that look?!
